In concert with the Provincial Government’s Wait Time Strategy and the posting of provincial wait times, the HRSRH is pleased to offer to its stakeholders, the citizens of the City of Greater Sudbury and Northeastern Ontario, our own surgical wait times.
These wait times are captured from the time the physician registers patients for surgery to the date the surgery is actually performed. Wait times may vary according to the type and urgency of the surgery required; scheduling of surgery and the order in which patients receive that surgery is a decision made by individual surgeons, according to their allotted OR time. Please note that these wait times include all elective surgeries performed at the HRSRH.
The HRSRH is presently switching to a new tracking system that will allow us to capture wait times in a more accurate and detailed fashion. Ultimately, posted wait times will reflect not only the time from patient’s registration for surgery to OR, but also; date from referral by GP; date from specialist consult; date from when the decision to operate took place.
In the meantime, we offer you our most recent wait time numbers, and are committed to updating them regularly in order to present an accurate picture and raise public awareness of wait times in Greater Sudbury and Northeastern Ontario.

Surgical wait times are broken down by surgical specialty and not by specific surgical procedures. These represent average surgical wait times for that surgical specialty. Wait times for specific procedures( ie. joint replacement) may vary significantly from the average, and from surgeon to surgeon.
Please note that cancer surgery is part of every specialty and cancer surgery wait-times are reported to Cancer Care Ontario according to cancer site (type). You can find these wait times at www.cancercare.on.ca.
