It is my pleasure to wecome you to our Cardiac Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program Website.

The website is designed to give you and your family a comprehensive overview of the services and educational opportunities available to you and your family within our program. It is also intended to provided clients in our catchement area, who find it difficult to access our on site services, with valuable educational material and information.The program is based on a scientifically proven and medically supervised course of exercise, education and lifestyle modification aimed at providing patients with the information, motivation and support they need to adopt and maintain heart-healthy habits

Cardiac Pulmonary Rehabilitation teaches patients and families about their disease and how to cope with its physical and psychological symptoms. Programs are available to help patients stop smoking, lower high blood pressure, cholesterol, and reduce emotional stress. Programs are also available to help spouses and family members better accept changes that an acute cardiac event brings. The program is at no cost to you provided there is referral from your physican or nurse practitionner.

Cardiac Pulmonary Rehabilitation monitors and improves the recovery, increases fitness, and reduces the risk of further cardiac problems. These goals are accomplished through the multidisciplinary efforts of Nurses, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physiotherapists, Kinesiologists, Psychological Associates, Dieticians and Clinical Exercise Specialists (ACSM).

Two members of Sudbury Regional Hospital's Cardiac Rehabilitation Program team have received nationals award from the Canadian Society for Training and Development.

Registered nurse Kate Blanchette and kinesiologist Trevor Harris received the WOW Award recognizing new, creative ideas in the form of a new products and services or improvement in organization process.

The winning submission was a unique resistance training manual and program developed by Blanchette and Harris for lower functioning cardiac clients of the Cardiac Rehab program.

The Canadian Society for Training and Development is a national, not-for-profit, membership association serving the field of workplace learning and performance.

The annual awards recognize exemplary Canadian workplace learning and performance programs in five categories.

The walk of LIfe 2009, held on April 29 and 30th, was a great success according of Angelique O'Donnell walk co-ordinator. Gerry Lougheed was presently with an award that recognises his involvement with the Walk of Life. Presently the funds raised are in excess of $9000.00. The organizing committee wishes to express their gratitude to our local sponsors and the clients of the program.More...
