The Oncology unit of the HRSRH is situated on the 4th floor (North tower) of the Laurentian site. The unit provides inpatient care to Oncology patients from North Eastern Ontario.
Patients will receive chemotherapy treatments, radiation care and supportive care in the terminal phase of the disease.
High dose chemotherapy, in preparation for stem cell transplantation, is done on the unit. As well, the Leukemic population from Northeastern Ontario is treated on this unit. The average length of stay for these patients would be 5-6 weeks due to the complications associated with the treatments.
