Types of Radiation Treatment
How is Radiation delivered?

There are two methods of delivering radiation: internal and external.

Internal radiation, or Brachytherapy, is delivered by placing a source of radiation inside someone’s body or right in the tumor.

External radiation is delivered from outside the body using machines to focus the radiation on the cancer site.

Brachytherapy

Radiation may be applied internally, as close as possible to the tumour site, by insertion of radioactive sources or seeds through tissue (interstitial) or into a body cavity (intracavitary).
