Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) Volunteers

About CCS Volunteers

You will find Canadian Cancer Society volunteers throughout the Regional Cancer Program, including the Daffodil Terrace Lodge.   You will also find us in some local hospitals across the northeast region.  We are there to help and support you as you attend your appointments. Our knowledgeable volunteers can help you find your way around, help you prepare for your appointment, sit with you while you're waiting or receiving treatment, and provide comfort and refreshments while you are there. Look for our friendly volunteers, always willing to help.  You can recognize us by our yellow jackets.

CCS Transportation Program

 Help in getting to treatments

If people living with cancer do not have the means to travel, the Canadian Cancer Society can help them get to the cancer-related care they need. Our trained volunteer drivers pick patients up and take them to the local hospital or Regional Cancer Program and offer friendly support along the way. And if a volunteer driver is not available, or if it is too far for a volunteer to drive, then assistance may be available for people living with cancer to use public transportation, to access the Northern Health Travel Grant or to drive their child to treatment.

To find out more about transportation options, contact the Canadian Cancer Society in your community; call a cancer information specialist at 1 888 939-3333 or search the Community Services Directory at the following link:
