As Board Chair of the Hôpital regional de Sudbury Regional Hospital, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our newly revamped website.
The coming years promise to be times of tremendous milestones and challenges, not only for our hospital, but our entire community.
Work on the long-awaited one-site hospital continues to be on time and on budget. The community’s Alternate Level of Care (ALC) crisis continues to place serious pressure on our hospital system and the care we are able to provide to you. We wish to acknowledge the efforts of our health care partners as we all strive to secure the solutions that will enable our health care system to manage the demands placed upon it.
We know you are keenly interested in these and other developments and we are pleased to offer a new means of communication through which you can follow their progress and receive important information about your hospital.
You place a high value on hospital transparency and accountability, especially regarding the quality of care a hospital provides to the communities it serves. Like you, we welcome the introduction of public reporting on hospital quality and safety. Over the past year we have seen the release of important quality indicators such as C. difficile rates, surgical wait times, Emergency Department Length of Stay and Hospital Standardized Mortality Ratio.
Through this website you will have access to local hospital data that is important to you, as well as links to reports from hospitals across the province that will help provide a broader context of our health care system.
Public reporting of these performance and quality measures will ultimately instill a higher level of trust and confidence in our hospital system – we understand this is of paramount importance to you, your family, friends and neighbours who all come to us for care.
Our staff, physicians and volunteers share this concern for the same reasons, and their dedication and commitment to you is second to none. Providing the very best patient care will continue to be the focus of the entire organization.
